Buangkok 07 - Street

This is Kampong Lorong Buang Kok, the last remaining rural village in mainland Singapore.

Kampong means village in Malay. It was the primary housing typology in the region for the past thousands of years. In the drive of urbanisation, the villages had all been replaced by highrise flats. Although traditional kampong houses still exist in Singapore mainland, this is the last village.

The village would be demolished soon for a school and apartments.
