Description

This is Clifford Pier.

It ws opened on 3 June 1933, replacing the old Johnston's Pier. It was named after Sir Hugh Clifford, Governor of the Straits Settlements between 1927 and 1929.

It is also nicknamed Ang Teng Beh Tao (Red Lamp Pier), a name taken over from Johnston's Pier. 2 red iron lamp posts reflect the name.

On 1 April 2006, the Clifford Pier was closed down after a long history of 73 years due to the damming of Marina Bay. To be developed into a hotel / entertainmant complex, the conservation building now sits empty.
